About Meerkat Productions
We are a small family business and this role is designed to enable the business to expand while ensuring excellent support for our teams of touring performers and our clients.
Our role (and our passion) is to empower children by entertaining them with theatre. We focus on providing programs that support student wellbeing and literacy by celebrating Australian stories. We create vibrant productions which deliver on specific areas of the school curriculum. Our shows provide students with applicable strategies and our free teacher resources enable post show exploration in the classroom.
We have around 400 performances, seen by over 45,000 students, each year. We are Australian owned and operated and perform at schools, libraries and public events across the East Coast, throughout regional VIC, NSW, QLD, SA and TAS; performing as far north as Cairns and in remote regional areas such as Bourke and Marra Creek.
About you
Are you an organised, detail-oriented administrator who wants to make a difference in the arts and education sectors?
We are seeking a Casual Administration Officer to support our small, passionate team in delivering high-quality, curriculum-aligned theatre performances to schools across Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key behind-the-scenes role in a dynamic, meaningful, and creative workplace.
You will be excited by the opportunity to make a significant contribution to a small business and to be accountable for delivering on your responsibilities.
You will be comfortable working in a small team and also on your own.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director, you’ll provide administrative support across tour planning, client bookings, performer onboarding, data management, and financial tasks. You’ll help keep our tours running smoothly by liaising with performers and clients, managing schedules, tracking performance data, and contributing to new projects and business development.
This is a flexible role (remote and in-office) that suits someone who enjoys variety, responsibility, and supporting a team making a big impact.
Working hours
Working hours are flexible. e.g. 4 hours per day over four days, 8 hours a day over two days, etc; however, the work will need to be completed during normal business hours because it involves communication with our clients and our teams.
Initially, you will be required to work with us face to face (mainly for training) but there is the option for working from home some of the time.
Also, it is possible that the working hours can increase in the future as the company expands and/or to take on additional responsibilities.
Qualifications & experience
You are someone who thrives on structure, clear communication, and helping others succeed. You’ll bring:
Essential:
At least 2 years’ experience in administration
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
Excellent attention to detail and time management
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Confidence working across multiple systems (e.g. CRM, Gmail, Xero)
A collaborative, proactive mindset
Desirable:
Knowledge of the Australian performing arts and/or education sectors
Experience with Xero, Zoho CRM, or tour/arts admin
Social media or digital marketing experience
A passion for theatre and young audiences
