The opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Council and Community Services, this role is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and delivery of essential services across the Groote Archipelago. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that the council meets the needs of the community through effective service management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will lead a team dedicated to improving service delivery and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Key Responsibilities (Please address the full position requirements from the position description available on the GARC website https://groote.nt.gov.au/)

Manage the delivery of regional Council services, including infrastructure maintenance, waste management, community development and environmental protection

Develop and implement project plans and provide strategic analysis on actions required to ensure business processes are effective and efficient

Collaborate with local stakeholders, including Indigenous leaders, government agencies, and community organisations, to support organisational excellence and outcomes

Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring the efficient and effective use of Council resources

Support the delivery of Council’s strategic vision for sustainable development and community liveability

Lead, mentor, and support a team of service officers and staff, fostering a positive, collaborative and inclusive work environment and encouraging professional development

What we're looking for

Demonstrated experience in local government or community services management, preferably in a regional or remote setting

Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to translate goals into actionable plans

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse groups in a culturally sensitive manner

Proven track record in leading and motivating teams to achieve positive outcomes for the community

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as public administration, community development, or business management

Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of regional and remote communities in the Northern Territory
