Policy Support Officer, Grade 5/6 - Wollongong

An exciting opportunity exists to work in the NSW SES Policy Team assisting in the management and development of policy documents

About the opportunity

The role contributes to the facilitation of doctrine throughout the document management lifecycle. This includes, development, maintenance and currency reporting of doctrine, such as: policy, procedures and supporting documents. These documents are essential to NSW SES, enabling Members to understand their role to respond effectively to safeguard communities from the risks of floods, storms and tsunamis and meet compliance of relevant Government legislation and standards. The role engages with doctrine writers, owners and sponsors to facilitate accurate and contemporary doctrine, in accordance with the NSW SES Policy Framework that is relevant and accessible to all NSW SES Members.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Demonstrate work experience and passion for the administration of Policy Lifecycle, including development, implementation and currency reporting.
  • Have excellent communication skills and proficient in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to work collaboratively working across different areas of the Agency.
  • Undertake independent research and apply critical thinking in analysing information and make recommendations
  • Have strong attention to detail to ensure quality documents are delivered.

We are a volunteer-based organisation that provides emergency assistance to the people of NSW 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It is the approximately 9,000 volunteers across the state that make this possible. NSW SES Volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing with them many different skills, interests and backgrounds. They are united by the purpose of supporting their communities in times of need.

While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm emergencies, NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state.
