Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The Fraud Fusion Taskforce and Integrity Capability Division (the Division) drives the Agency’s integrity response and capability uplift as well as the coordination of the whole-of-government multi-agency Fraud Fusion Taskforce (FFT).

The Division is seeking to fill an APS6 Policy Officer role in the Fraud Fusion Taskforce Capability Branch.

The FFT Capability Branch (the Branch) leads the overall governance and management of the multi-agency Fraud Fusion Taskforce. The Branch delivers integrity capability uplifts across the NDIA and FFT through strategic prevention initiatives, driving whole of government integrity law reform, and engagement with the disability community and advocates.
The APS6 Policy Officer is accountable under limited supervision to undertake moderately complex to complex work. Legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents guide the position.

The position is a team membership position and is accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to an area of responsibility. The APS6 Policy Officer will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries.

As an APS6 Policy Officer, you will interpret, draft and review policy and procedural issues with business areas and stakeholders, contributing to the planning and implementation of NDIA policies and objectives.

You will draft reports, briefing papers, agendas, minutes, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers and tailor written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences, providing advice on complex issues.
The APS6 Policy Officer will conduct research and analysis to inform policy development and support implementation. You will identify emerging issues across mainstream interfaces and suggest potential solutions.

You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders and participate in committees and forums.

The APS 6 Policy Officer will contribute to the quality and performance of the Fraud Fusion Taskforce program. Working with the Fraud Fusion Taskforce, providing support and delivering quality outcomes. Building and maintaining strong working partnerships with business areas and delivery partners to effectively contribute to Fraud Fusion Taskforce program and project objectives.

While this role is ideally performed from Canberra, ACT; Sydney, NSW; Melbourne, VIC; Brisbane, QLD, Perth, WA, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
