Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the position of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outreach Worker. This role will work closely with the Indigenous Health Project Officer within the Integrated Team Care program and will be based at Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outreach Workers play a vital role in the primary health workforce. They will undertake non-clinical tasks such as; community liaison, administration support, provide practice assistance and provide feedback regarding access barriers. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outreach Worker will undergo continuous training to fulfil this role.

NOTE: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identified position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.

1. Key Selection Criteria

· Proof of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander (NB: applicants race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)

· Must have strong links with the community in which they work

· Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

· Demonstrated timeline management skills

· Demonstrated understanding of the barriers faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people when accessing mainstream primary care services

· Demonstrated understanding of chronic conditions faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

· Culturally responsive

· Current NSW Driver’s License

· Current NSW Working With Children Check

· Current National Criminal History Check

2. Additional Factors

· Current First Aid & CPR certificates

· Proof of vaccination must be provided upon acceptance of appointment.

Remuneration Range -

Will be based on qualifications and experience.
