This provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to the direction and development of this new Division.

These stakeholders are specifically state, territory, and federal government agencies, in addition the private sector. The Directorate will seek to establish and/or maintain extant arrangements and agreements that improve the nation’s resilience and facilitate Defence access to the national support base.

We are seeking applications from high-performing individuals who are agile and have proven abilities to work with and manage a small team, are positioned to offer high levels advice and support to senior executive officers, and who can think and act strategically to accomplish outcomes in an evolving geopolitical environment. This role will also require official travel within Australia.

  • Lead a body of work on stakeholder engagement, including the development of stakeholder profiles and maps, and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Lead external engagements with other state and federal government agencies for the Directorate, to facilitate the delivery of legislative or policy changes where required.
  • Manage, contribute and support to achieving outcomes that will inform the Departments response to requests from Government.

About our Team

National Support teams will work collaboratively to enable Defence to plan, organise and draw upon whole-of government and whole-of-nation capabilities to improve Defence and the nation’s resilience. Led by Head National Support, NSD staff will work with Joint Logistics Command (JLC), JCG and the other Groups within Defence to contribute to NSD and Defence wide outcomes.

NSD is an integrated workforce comprised of both APS and ADF staff. We work together in a dynamic environment towards the goal of ensuring national preparedness.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute advice and expertise at the foundational level for the NSD. Deputy Directors can expect to engage across Defence and as required across Whole of Government and industry.

Our Ideal Candidate

An ideal National Support Division Deputy Director will need the ability to work collaboratively, providing management, advice and support within a team and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. These roles will require the ability to work effectively with JCG’s Divisions and Commands and other groups across Defence to achieve Group and Defence wide outcomes.
