Classification: SCHADS Award - Level 3, Pay Point 1, plus Salary packaging eligibility (up to $18,550 per year)
Location: North West, Tasmania, with some State-wide travel required

Position Objective
The Program Facilitator position plays a front-line role in the mentoring of young people in their own environments, as well as regular developmental sessions with BEAST participants and development camps. The role undertakes a combination of youth facilitation and administration tasks to support JCP Youth. The following duties are designed to capture the inherent requirements of this role; however, other duties can be assigned in line with your classification, operational needs and experience.
Major Duties
This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals. The Program Facilitator will be the main point of contact for mentorship and support, and will actively engage with young people in the NW of Tasmania. The position entails working flexible hours, including afternoon shifts, traveling long distances, and being available for on-call work in emergency situations involving young people.
A work car is provided for work duties along with phone & computer. Salary Packaging is available through a provider, salary package up to $15,900 in living-expense items that attract Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) – which could lower your taxable income and potentially increase your disposable income each year. Additionally, you are entitled to package up to $2,650 in meal entertainment expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentorship and Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for mentorship and guidance for participants in the BEAST Program.
Establish meaningful relationships with participants to provide them with the expected outcomes of the programs.
Develop and implement mentorship activities that promote personal growth, resilience, and positive decision-making.
Development Camps:
Participate in the planning, coordination, and execution of development camps for young individuals.
Create a safe and inclusive environment during camps, fostering teamwork, personal development, and leadership skills.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of mentorship interactions, program activities, and participant progress.
Prepare reports and documentation as required by the organisation.
Emergency Response and On-Call Work:
Be available for on-call work to respond to emergency situations involving young people, offering support and guidance as needed.
Collaborate with relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure appropriate response and intervention in crisis situations.
Physical Fitness and Engagement:
Maintain physical fitness and stamina to actively engage in street-level work and community interactions.
Participate in physical activities and recreational programs with young people during development camps.
Working in a Team and Independently:
Collaborate effectively with the JCP Youth team, sharing insights and strategies. Working as a cohesive team. This particular role is a very independent role, as the base for JCP is based in the north of the state.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently while adhering to organisational goals and guidelines.
Community Engagement:
Spend a significant amount of time traveling, working on the street, and engaging within various communities to build relationships and identify needs.
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong passion for working with at-risk and vulnerable young people.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including afternoon shifts, weekends, and on-call situations.
Capacity to travel long distances across the state as required.
Proficiency in administrative tasks and record-keeping.
Competency in engaging and working with disengaged youth.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently.
Physically fit and capable of engaging in outdoor activities.
Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse communities.
MUST have a current drivers licence
MUST have a valid Working with Vulnerable Persons check
Relevant qualifications in youth work or similar are NOT essential, but are favourable
Location: Based on the NW (Devonport, Burnie or other) with additional travel across the state when requested.
