About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Allied Health team as a Play Therapist, where you will be responsible for:

• Minimizing the stress and trauma associated with the hospitalisation of children by providing developmentally appropriate and enjoyable activity programs;
• consulting with the Coordinator Play Therapy and the medical, nursing and Allied Health teams, delivering a stimulating activity program for children to enjoy and express themselves whilst hospitalised;
• understanding children’s development and is an active advocate of the importance of play therapy.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to think creatively, use initiative, be flexible and self-motivated.
• Ability to work independently and participate as part of a team.
• Experience in working with children and adolescents.
• Experience in developing play therapy programmes for individuals or groups.
• Experience in developing appropriate structured programmes to meet the individual cultural, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of children and adolescents.
• Experience in basic computer skills, email, word processing and Microsoft Teams.
