About the role:
My client is seeking an Assistant Director – Pay and Conditions. This position is available as an s26 transfer (temporary or permanent) or a non-ongoing engagement up to 18 months with a view to permanency.

The Assistant Director, Pay and Conditions is responsible for a range of activities, including overseeing the Pay and Conditions team and coordinates internal and external people related payroll reporting and org. In addition to this the position is responsible for coordinating SAP HR related upgrades and liaising with contractors to determine regular system maintenance requirements.

The principal accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Pay and Conditions team to deliver high quality payroll and related advice to clients.
  • Payroll administration functions may include processing of pay, running of pay, pay cycle checks, leave provisions, reporting and SAP functions and technical support.
  • Management of the Pay and Conditions team may include day to day management, checking or dealing with more complex queries and strategic management of the team.
  • Extract, analyse, process and present data that can be used by the business.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports (internal and external) in line with business needs.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the payroll function.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance in relation to the SAP system and pay and conditions function and solve problems associated with client service delivery ensuring required timeframes are met.
  • Build and/or maintain appropriate networks and stakeholder relationships to support service delivery, compliance, best practice and business improvement activities.
  • Manage projects and major system changes.
  • Provide expert input and/or develop and deliver policies, processes and procedures within the strategic people framework.


About You:
You’ll have a well aligned working history with direct APS experience and be able to demonstrate your SAP HR expertise in payroll and organisational structure management.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Experience in the key responsibilities outlined above
  • Demonstrated SAP payroll experience
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture and practices
  • High level of organisational and administration skills including time management, problem solving and the ability to prioritise work and achieve set targets
