What you'll be doing
This senior Social Work role in the SUPPS team supports families impacted by substance use, helping drive better health outcomes for parents and children. Your responsibilities will also include:
- Delivering counselling and psychosocial interventions
- Supporting pregnant women and families with young children
- Conducting home visits and work across community settings
- Using trauma informed, harm reduction, person-centred care
- Applying First 2000 Days and Keep Them Safe frameworks

Essential Criteria:
- Qualification: Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics. Minimum 3 years post qualification experience.
Selection Criteria:
- Extensive post graduate experience working with clients who have complex drug and alcohol issues and specialist knowledge of child protection, domestic and family violence, mental illness, and cultural diversity.
- Demonstrated extensive experience of providing drug and alcohol counselling such as motivational interviewing and relapse prevention and the development and facilitation of group programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to working and partnering with Aboriginal clients, families and communities as well as improving the health outcomes for socially disadvantaged groups of patients within the local community.
- Demonstrated experience in working within a trauma informed and harm reduction framework.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support others in practice changes, gathering data, managing risk, and reflective practice. Demonstrated ability to lead Quality Improvement projects.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stake holders throughout all organisational levels.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to identify key messages, issues, and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated experience in providing Clinical Supervision, education sessions, and facilitating groups.
