About Us

Kraken Coding is a health tech start-up company and creator of Clinical Branches, an award-winning clinical decision support platform currently used across 50+ hospitals in Australia and Canada. The platform is a web application built on a MERN stack and we're now expanding to native mobile.
We are a small team of 5 all working remotely and growing quickly.

The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Software Developer with strong experience in React Native to lead the development of our mobile application and potentially the web platform into the future. You’ll be responsible for architecting and building the mobile app, integrating with MongoDB Realm Sync for offline-first capabilities, and contributing to improvements on our existing React-based web app.

You’ll work closely with the project manager (a pharmacist/software developer) and quality lead to ensure the app is secure, usable, and scalable but ultimately you will have autonomy over the development process.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the React Native mobile application allowing users to view clinical pathways on mobile for iOS and Android

Integrate MongoDB Realm Sync or equivalent offline-first data sync solution so that application guideline content (all JSON objects) can be stored offline

Assist in enhancements of our existing (legacy) React web application

Collaborate on mobile-optimised UI/UX implementation internally and with hospital staff

Support application authentication, encryption, and security hardening for native mobile access

Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews

Contribute to the maintenance of the company Information Security Management System (ISMS) for ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 certification maintenance.

Desirable Skills

React Native + React (3+ years)

Experience with MongoDB and Realm Sync or other offline-first mobile frameworks

Familiarity with OAuth2 / SSO authentication flows

Exposure to ISO 27001, ISO 13485, or medical device software development (desirable but not required)

Experience or interest in vector search, machine learning, or clinical/healthcare environments
