About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Energy Data Analyst to support our wholesale energy risk management and trading operations through advanced data analytics. Reporting to the Head of Energy Markets, you will enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness by delivering robust analytical support, innovative reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. At times, you will also provide analytical support to other departments within Blue NRG.

Key Responsibilities:

Extract, maintain, and analyse AEMO load, price, and related data.

Develop and refine interactive PowerBI dashboards and customised reports.

Collect and manage historical energy derivatives and trading data.

Coordinate operational tasks related to electricity markets and environmental schemes.

Drive system automation initiatives in collaboration with support services.

Ensure clarity and accuracy in reporting wholesale energy price exposure.

Contribute to critical data migration projects (e.g., billing data).

What You'll Bring:

Advanced SQL skills (queries, stored procedures, ETL frameworks, data warehousing).

Expertise in Microsoft Excel (Power Query, advanced data tables).

Proven experience with PowerBI (including DAX) or similar visualisation tools.

Strong analytical capabilities to identify and communicate key trends and insights.

Attention to detail, combined with excellent problem-solving skills.

Strong numeracy and mathematical proficiency.

Highly Desirable:

Energy industry experience, particularly with AEMO data (MMS, MSATS).

Familiarity with statistical languages (R, Python) or general-purpose programming languages.
