We're looking for a passionate Furniture & Homewares Sales and Interiors Specialist to join our small, experienced team across our Avalon and Warriewood locations. In this hands-on role, you'll combine your love for interiors with your skills in sales, styling, and customer service, helping our clients create beautiful, personalised spaces.

Location: Based in Avalon & Warriewood | Northern Beaches – Sydney
Hours: Full time – 4 or 5 days a week (depending on the applicant and their preference), including weekend work every fortnight
Salary: Market salary + super based on education, skills and experience

Beachwood is a well-established furniture and interior design business located in the Northern Beaches, specialising in high-quality coastal design for over 30 years. We are a small, experienced team offering a high level of service to our loyal customers.

About the role

This is a hands-on role, perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-moving retail and design environment. An ideal position for someone with a love for interiors and who enjoys learning and thinking on their feet.

This is a dual-location role, based at both our Avalon shop and Warriewood showroom. It involves:

Sales & Customer Service – Assisting customers with furniture, upholstery, lighting, rugs, homewares, and styling advice.

Interior Design & Styling – Providing design expertise and styling assistance, plus unpacking and arranging homewares.

Retail Operations – Handling sales processing, follow-ups, pricing, labelling, and maintaining a well-presented workspace.

Digital Marketing Support (Desirable) – Capturing content, using digital tools, and assisting our marketing team with social media and promotional material.

Duties & Responsibilities

Inspiring our customers with product knowledge, tailoring your service to bring the customers’ design ideas to life.

Be proactive in making sure you keep your knowledge up to date on our products and their benefits

Assist with organising customer orders for deliveries and pick-ups.

Provide excellent customer service when required to communicate directly with customers – acting as the main point of contact

Ensure the store is kept clean and tidy at all times

Ad hoc duties as needed in the store

Contribute to a fun, supportive culture in-store where the team loves coming to work every day

The successful candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced – Minimum 4+ years in the interiors, furniture, or retail design industry. Retail experience in furniture, homewares, or interior design is preferred.

Independent & Organised – Able to multi-task, think fast, and work efficiently in a small, dynamic team. You should be a self-motivated individual who can take initiative and plan ahead.

Creative & Detail-Oriented – Strong visualisation skills and styling expertise, ideally with experience using industry software like SketchUp, CAD, or other 3D design programs. Attention to detail is key.

Customer-Focused & Approachable – Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage comfortably with a range of clients. You should be professional, personable, and have great communication skills.

Energetic & Hands-On – This role involves unpacking, moving furniture, and styling displays—so strength, energy, and enthusiasm are important.

Tech-Savvy – Comfortable with MS Office Suite and interior design programs. Experience with Adobe InDesign & Photoshop (for presentations) is a plus.
