Senior/Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Renewable Projects

We are mandated by a Tier 1 contractor at the forefront of Australia's energy transition. With a pipeline of landmark renewable infrastructure projects across NSW and Queensland, the business is expanding its technical delivery team with a strategic hire in electrical engineering.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a high-performing team focused on delivering complex, utility-scale energy projects. This individual will play a key role in both design and site phases, contributing to major wind, solar, battery storage, and gas-fired generation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to the electrical design of large-scale renewable energy projects (200MW+)

Oversee grid connection studies, modelling, and compliance with NEM requirements

Integrate battery energy storage systems (BESS) into renewable energy projects

Support commissioning and testing phases across various sites

Liaise with AEMO, Transgrid, Powerlink, and other key stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant grid integration

Assist with R1, GPS, and registration processes for generation assets

Provide technical leadership to internal teams and subcontractors

Ensure all work aligns with relevant Australian standards and project specifications

Required Experience:

Minimum 10 years’ experience, ideally 15+, in electrical design engineering within the power generation or renewable energy sector

Proven site experience in addition to office-based design work

Demonstrated success on projects 200MW or larger, particularly in wind, solar, or hybrid renewable developments

Deep understanding of battery storage systems and their integration into grid-connected infrastructure

Familiarity with AEMO, Transgrid, Powerlink, and NEM regulations
