Description: John Blythe Child Psychology (JBCP) seeks a registered or endorsed psychologist, to join a team of child psychologists in Western Sydney, to provide evidence-based treatment, assessment and diagnosis for children and adolescents.

At JBCP our child psychologists are known for their life-changing work with many families across Western Sydney. Our team consists of provisional, registered, clinical and educational & developmental psychologists. We currently operate across 3 sites (Blacktown, Nepean (Penrith), Macarthur (Gledswood Hills)). We are a leading provider of clinical, NDIS, and allied-health services. We have been honoured to be named as the Care-Navigator NDIS Provider of the Year and also as finalists in Local Business Awards for Penrith-City in 2024 & for Blacktown-City in 2025.

Responsibilities will include:

Work as part of a team of psychologists under the supervision of senior supervising psychologists in the provision of direct psychological services to children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Provide advanced psychological assessments, case formulation, interventions and reports. Contribute as part of a dynamic team, develop relationships with stakeholders, and continue to learn and grow in your skills.

A JBCP Psychologist engages in a combination of clinical training, on-the-job learning, and supervision to develop their skills related to clinical assessment, differential diagnosis and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual client presentations across our service.

Duties include:

Attendance at clinical supervision, professional development, and ongoing training.

Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for young people, including liaising with internal and external service providers, working with the young person's family and support networks, and actively participate in case review meetings.

Relate to young people in a manner which is culturally relevant and appropriate to their developmental and cognitive level of functioning and provide services in a youth friendly manner; being aware of any person-specific needs in relation to their culture, gender, sexuality, spirituality, disability and other important issues identified by the client.

Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments of young people presenting to JBCP using age-appropriate, evidence-based assessment tools.

Conduct risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk and violence risk and provide follow up support, referrals and treatment.

Maintain knowledge, understanding of, and adherence to relevant legislation, policies and procedures impacting on service delivery for young people and their families.

Provide timely follow-up, monitoring and care as directed through Mental Health Treatment Plans (MHTP’s), referrer updates, and NDIS service plans.

Ensure information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner in the JBCP online health record system, and that records are maintained in accordance with JBCP and APS standards.

Participate in external professional Development to meet any additional CPD requirements not provided by your workplace.

Participate in the JBCP Staff Development Review on at least an annual basis.

Professional Supervision and Support

Essential Criteria:

General registration as a psychologist with AHPRA and/or registration with endorsement as a psychologist with AHPRA.

Holds or is currently eligible to apply for a Medicare provider number.

Hold a current Working with Children Check Clearance (WWCC).

Hold or willing to obtain NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC).

Hold or undergo a National Criminal Record Check.

Have previous experience in (or a strong preference for) working with children, adolescents and their families.

Hold a current NSW drivers’ licence, have access to a registered vehicle, and be willing to work across our multiple campuses as required.

Be a current Australian resident with the ability to work in Australia.
