Position Overview:

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical systems and equipment. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs:

Inspect, service, and repair mechanical components such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, and conveyors.

Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions to minimise downtime.

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and routine inspections.

Installation:

Install new machinery or mechanical systems according to technical drawings and specifications.

Assemble and align mechanical parts and systems.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures and ensure safe working practices.

Complete safety checks, permits, and job hazard analysis (JHAs) as required.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service logs and inspection reports.

Report equipment malfunctions and recommend improvements or replacements.

Teamwork & Communication:

Collaborate with other trades, operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation.

Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.

Key Requirements:

Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner.

Proven experience in mechanical maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.

Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Desirable Attributes:

Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.

Dogman / rigger

Forklift and EWP.

Flexible and proactive approach to work.

Ability to work away across the wheatbelt as required.
