About the role

Austin Engineering Ltd is seeking skilled Mechanical Fitters to join our Site Services Team in Western Australia. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment, working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The site services team is conducting repairs and maintenance on Komatsu, Hitachi and CAT machines and offering advice & support to our clients. This is a full-time position, offering stability and long-term career opportunities within our growing organisation.

What you'll be doing

Perform routine maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy mining equipment such as excavators, haul trucks, and other machinery

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement effective solutions

Collaborate with the wider site services & maintenance team to ensure the efficient operation of equipment

Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used

Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures

What we're looking for

Trade qualification in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter) or equivalent with MEM experience

Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining or heavy fabrication industry

Sound mine site experience and product knowledge of OEM equipment

Experience working on dump truck trays and excavator/loader buckets (793, 830e and 930e), preferred

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

Demonstrable safety-first mindset and commitment to workplace health and safety

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

Rio Tinto Inducted, preferred

MR/HR license, beneficial

HRWL (DG, RB, LF, WP) highly desirable
