DETAILS OF YOUR ROLE:
We are lucky to have moved into a much larger commercial space in January 2025, and are on the lookout for a new Speechie to join our Speech Pathology family. If you're someone who loves to support young families, engage in a fun-filled and compassionate way with children and thrives working both within a team, but with your own autonomy too, please reach out. Engage in a Team where the balance of personal life with career-progression are prioritised.
Nurture Nest Speech Pathology is a paediatric speech pathology practice with a special focus on the early intervention and early primary years, based in Geebung in Brisbane's inner north. We are passionate about the little darlings we support, and about holistic and collaborative services, engaging strongly with other providers in the local community.
Anna Blee (Directing SLP) formed the concept of the ‘Nurture Nest’, because we wanted to create a workplace where both the clients we support and the staff feel safe, nurtured and supported when they are with us. We dedicate our time and energy to high-quality intervention services; building capacity within families; and building resilience and confidence in the children we see.
The SLP's currently at Nurture Nest have completed a range of additional certifications to be skilled in this developmental window. We have a high focus on EBP and generous access to PD and clinical supervision will allow our next employee that same growth.
We welcome NDIS (self and plan-managed) and privately funded clients to Nurture Nest, and run a range of exciting dyad and small group programs in addition to our individual therapeutic support. We collaborate within diagnostic processes and trial, recommend and implement AAC systems. Nurture Nest provide communication, fluency, literacy and mealtime support.
Our clinic is fully resourced with beautiful, high-quality books, toys and games. We also have an array of assessments, text books, AAC resources and all the other goodies you might need to carry out your daily practice. There are 5 rooms, including; a large space for group programs and those littlies that need room to move for regulation; a kitchenette and dining table for mealtime work; an office-pod where we all work together to allow for collaboration; a lovely reception area for families and free parking.
You will be required to engage in the following tasks;
assessment
reporting
case notes
review assessments
diagnostic support reporting
funding request reports
NDIS review reports
AAC trial, prescription and implementation
mealtime assessment and therapy (NB: if you do not have additional experience of certification in this areas you will attend PD prior to this commencing to ensure you are competent and confident in this space)
group therapy planning
providing dyad and group therapy (e.g. Preparing to transition to school, supporting social confidence, SOS therapy)
resource construction
clinical supervision (critical reflection and case-based explorations)
therapy for a range of difficulties
consultative support meetings within community settings
Let's list all the good stuff about why you should come to work with us:
The work is fun, fresh and dynamic. You will be working with a range of children needing your specialised skills as a speechie, ranging from speech and language delay and disorders, stuttering, literacy, social skills, feeding, AAC and everything in between. We do welcome neurodivergent children and those with complex needs so there is capacity to extend your expertise in dynamic assessment and clinical reasoning.
This is a permanent part-time role in our fully set up and well-resourced clinic plus you have access to full-time admin support, with the potential to take a 'Senior Speech-Language Pathologist' title pending your clinical progression.
A $2000 (PTE) annual professional development budget is provided for you to continue your learning, as well as 4 paid days per year to attend PD events of your choosing (equating to a 5th week of leave per annum).
You will have the opportunity to engage in fortnightly 1:1 clinical supervision with the Director Anna Blee. This provides opportunity to engage in reflective practice and unpack all your cases, affording time for planning and problem-solving together. Anna has 18years of experience in the Paediatric sector across public and private roles and has been providing clinical supervision around the country for 10years now. She has extensive experience in multidisciplinary teams and has a wealth of knowledge to share with regard to holistic care and viewing the 'whole child' in the context of their family and educational setting.
We utilise Cliniko practice management software and have an extensive library of templates and documents for you to use to make your paperwork tasks easy to manage. Consideration will ALWAYS be given to the mental health of our staff, and we will not overload you with client hours that are outside of your capabilities. Our focus will ALWAYS be on quality care over quantity, and we will provide you the support and structures you need to manage your caseload.
We hold termly treat days where we head out of the office and spoil ourselves to acknowledge all the hard work and excellent care we have provided at work. These days are still paid days as if you are at work - we promise to be grateful for your effort and your passion.
