Advance Disability Services and Respite Pty Ltd is looking for two experienced and exceptional Disability Support Workers on a part-time basis to join our team at Penrith LGA.

ADSR is Hiring for Five Permanent Part-Time Positions:

We are recruiting Hours which range from 40-60 hours a fortnight.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • An ability to carry out the physical requirements of the direct support professional role.
  • A genuine interest in, and commitment to, ADSR's vision, mission, and values of integrity, potential, individuality, and relationships.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of the purpose of the organisation.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible and effective approach to working within a team environment.
  • Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people.
  • Must have a smartphone (iPhone/Android) with the capability to download and utilise software applications.
  • Current Driver's Licence and access to a roadworthy vehicle.
  • Knowledge of disability services and regulations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Current first aid and CPR certification.
  • NDIS worker screening check.
  • Covid-19 vaccination record including at least one booster.
  • Ability to use technology such as smartphones, iPads, and computers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively in times of distress for the participant.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.

Job Responsibilities: This includes but is not limited to:

  • Personal care (if needed), such as help with personal care in the home, dressing, meals, showering, toileting, participant transfers, and assistance.
  • Domestic tasks for the male participant, such as general house cleaning, shopping, laundry, or completion of errands and tasks.
  • Support for participation in social outings, recreational activities, community events, and day programs.
  • Providing companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
  • Work according to behaviour support plans by following positive behaviour strategies.
  • Maintenance of progress notes, data collection, record keeping, and incident reporting.
  • Medication management and administration.

Desirables:

  • Relevant qualifications, e.g., Cert IV in Disability.
  • Appropriate experience.
  • Experience in a community or charitable organisation.
  • Understanding of people with a disability.

Selection Process (5 Stages):

  4. Reference and Background Checks – We will conduct reference checks and other relevant background screening.
  5. Offer of Employment – If successful, you will be offered a position and commence employment with ADSR.
