Your Opportunity to Make an Impact
What You’ll Teach
Advanced Patternmaking – from block development and complex draping to digital pattern engineering and grading workflows.
Toiling & Fit Development – guiding students as they translate patterns into flawlessly fitted prototypes, run fit sessions, and troubleshoot construction issues in real time.
Garment Construction Mastery – imparting couture-level sewing techniques, industrial machine operation, and production-ready finishing.
Key Responsibilities
Studio & Workshop Leadership
Deliver engaging demonstrations, hands-on critiques, and masterclasses across all year levels.
Maintain a safe, well-organised studio environment that mirrors professional workrooms.
Curriculum & Assessment
Co-design subject outlines that integrate 2D / 3D CAD (e.g., CLO3D), sustainability principles, and current industry standards.
Set, assess, and moderate practical projects, tech packs, and portfolio submissions against TEQSA-aligned outcomes.
Industry Engagement
Source live briefs, guest speakers, and placement opportunities that expose students to real-world timelines and quality benchmarks.
Keep course content future-focused by embedding advances in smart textiles, zero-waste cutting, and regenerative design practices.
Student Mentorship
Provide tailored feedback and career coaching to support graduates into roles such as pattern engineer, sample machinist, product developer, or atelier assistant.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in academic committees, peer-review cycles, and professional development to ensure Whitehouse continues to be Australia’s leading private design institute.
The Role: A Blend of Passion and Professionalism
Teaching at Whitehouse is not just a job; it's an experience. Our on-campus classes, conducted Tuesday to Friday, are designed in two-hour learning blocks, offering a perfect balance of in-depth teaching and personal interaction with students. Each trimester spans 10-12 teaching weeks, starting in the second week of June 2025.

Qualifications and Experience That Set You Apart
AQF Level 8 qualification or higher in design, fashion, or arts (equivalent experience is also considered)
Proven design industry experience.
Previous tertiary-level teaching experience is advantageous.
