Our client has two facilities in Canning Vale which are only 5 minutes apart, they can collaborate, conceive, test and bring ideas into reality faster than any other competitor on the market.
With a focus on quality, safety, and innovation, our client is seeking a proactive and experienced WHS Manager to lead our safety culture and ensure full compliance with all health and safety obligations under WA legislation.
As the WHS Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety systems across our engineering workshop and project sites.
You will ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and WHS Regulations 2022, and drive a positive safety culture among employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the WHS Management System in line with WA legislation and ISO 45001 standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and site inspections across workshop operations.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training to staff and contractors.
- Liaise with regulators (Work Safe WA) and ensure all reporting obligations are met.
- Maintain WHS documentation including SWMS, risk registers, JHAs, and MSDSs.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and proactive hazard reporting.
- Collaborate with workshop supervisors to ensure safe work practices and equipment compliance.
- Manage workers’ compensation cases, RTW plans, and injury management in line with WorkCover WA guidelines.
- Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and ensure policies are regularly reviewed and communicated.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ WHS experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or workshop environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Work Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with risk management, incident investigation, and WHS reporting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage all levels of the workforce.
- Experience with ISO 45001 implementation (desirable).
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification (current).
- ICAM training (advantageous).
