Emergency Management (EM) and Work Health Safety (WHS) Coordination
Lead the development and practical application of the regions EM and WHS plans and activities
Apply your extensive knowledge, skills and experience to guide and support managers and staff on all EM and WHS matters and assist managers to promote strategies to improve EM and WHS outcomes across the region.
NT Health’s East Arnhem Regional Health Service (EARHS) is a multi-disciplinary service that provides treatment and support to individuals, families and communities throughout the region which has a predominantly Aboriginal population of approximately 14,000 people across 11 remote communities and multiple homelands/outstations.
As the Emergency Management and Work Health Safety Coordinator, your primary objective is to provide high level advice to ensure the EARHS has a high functioning system of EM and WHS compliant with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines, and take a lead role in coordinating emergency preparedness for the EARHS.
Supported by an experienced senior management team locally, and a broad network of EM and WHS professionals across NT Health and a number of other NTG Agencies, you will take an active and supportive approach during emergency events through inter-agency coordination, providing advice, ensuring effective and clearly articulated communication flow, maintaining situational awareness, monitoring EM systems such as WebEOC, documenting key decisions, and coordinating with relevant EARHS Managers to establish and maintain work unit business continuity plans.
The EM&WHS Coordinator is expected to operate autonomously with limited supervision for the day to day operations and as a team member in group situations. The role requires a proactive approach and a degree of initiative across the scope of duties. Located in Nhulunbuy you will conduct regular outreach visits to Groote Eylandt, to provide support to staff who are based on the Island, and to meet with stakeholders as required.
Ideally, you have completed a tertiary level qualification or equivalent related work experience with EM and/or WHS, have strong knowledge of legislation relevant to EM and/or WHS and demonstrated experience in the coordination, development and operationalisation of emergency management and/or WHS systems across a large organisation.
In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package inclusive of 11.5% superannuation, 6 weeks annual recreation and 3 weeks personal leave, 3 days Christmas closedown leave, 17.5% annual leave loading and professional development opportunities to grow your experience in a supportive coaching and mentoring environment. Remote area incentive allowance, free accommodation, assistance with relocation and two return flights to Darwin annually also applies.
This is a great time to consider a move to the Top End. Nhulunbuy is a fantastic place to live, learn and work. It is known for its pristine natural and marine environment, spectacular scenery, Aboriginal art and culture, and some of the best beaches in Australia.
