About the role
Based in our Head office in Essendon Fields with some working from home opportunities available, an excellent career opportunity exists for a Lead Software Engineer in our Aviation Apps team who has a strong desire to contribute and participate in the exciting opportunities arising within a dynamic, technology business with growth and expansion plans.
Working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, this position is responsible for working with a Technical Product Manager and other Engineers to design, build and deliver feature that passengers and airline staff will use every day in airports around the world.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Guide our product's technical journey from start-up to scale-up as we onboard more customers to a growing product.
- Leading by example, write high-quality code, conduct constructive code reviews and coach your teammates.
- Guide technical execution by defining technical requirements, architecture and software development strategies.
- Identify and suggest ideas for improvements and features.
- Engage with internal and external partners as well as directly with airline customers to translate customer needs into exceptional products.

Skills and experience
Experience
- .NET back-end development;
- JS including Angular v12 of higher, Svelte, and/or Tailwind front-end development;
- Postgre SGL or other databases, and/or;
- AWS cloud infrastructure, e.g., Fargate/ECS, S3, and more.
- Must be an Australian Citizen or have Permanent Residency.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 6+ years of professional software development experience with at least 2 years in a role as a technical leader within a team.
- Proven experience in .NET API development, system integration with REST and SOAP XML-based services, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Experience designing and leading implementation of path-to-production design for the team's code.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), architecture and best practices.
- Experience of exposure to some of the following stacks/frameworks
- Experience speaking directly to customers regarding their requirements and expectations.
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to maintain excellent relationships with a range of key stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills with an ability to plan and prioritise competing work requirements and work towards tight deadlines.
- Adaptable and able to work autonomously and in dynamic, fast paced team environment.
- Proactive and reactive problem solving skills with an ability to “think outside the box”
Bonus Points for the Following:
- Experience in airline, airport or the travel industry, with double points for experience in any airline booking or departure control system.
- Experience in ISO 27001 and/or SOC2 Type 2 environments.
- Passion for building scalable, resilient infrastructure and products.
