The Rockhampton Grammar School is seeking dedicated and highly skilled Teacher Aides (Learning Enrichment) to join our team.

There are a variety of positions available ranging from Full-Time, Part-Time & Casual.

The Rockhampton Grammar School was founded in 1881 and is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, educating and caring for students from Prep to Year 12, as well as the Early Learning Years and is Queensland’s largest boarding school. POSITION: Teacher Aide (Learning Enrichment)

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Part-Time & Casual - Term-Time

REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Learning Enrichment

BASIC FUNCTION:

To contribute to the provision of a quality educational service by assisting and supporting teachers with the preparation/enhancement of learning materials and associated activities and to support students by implementing a range of teaching and learning strategies such as one-on-one instruction, co-operative learning, scaffolding, modelling and worked examples.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position involves the support and delivery of learning assistance to students with special needs and learning difficulties – both in remediation and extension; and to provide administrative support to the Coordinator of Learning Enrichment and classroom teachers.

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Work directly with students in class to provide assistance in facilitating the learning for students with specific needs as allocated by the Teacher;

Facilitate small group support to students as allocated by the Teacher;

Support students with a disability or learning difference;

Aid in the preparation and delivery of teaching and learning programs within the frameworks in place in the School;

Assist teachers with learning activities that take place in and out of the classroom;

Assist with the monitoring, evaluating and reporting of student progress;

Be responsible for the storage and maintenance of resources and consumables;

Assist with the management and stocktaking of equipment and resources;

Administrative assistance duties, including;

Typing of work programs, worksheets, exams, semester results;

Duplicate/photocopy teaching materials;

Maintain Student Data Bases;

Any other duties as required by the Coordinator of Learning Enrichment.

REQUIRED LICENCES/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE

Working with Children Check;

Police Check;

Safeguarding Children Online Training Certificate;

Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent previous work experience

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

The School takes child protection seriously, and as a staff member or volunteer of The Rockhampton Grammar School, you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Practice and Behaviour Guidelines. You will receive a copy of these guidelines as part of the induction process.

Therefore, as a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to:

Ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe;

Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge;

Act as a positive role model for children and young people;

Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse to management;

Maintain valid “working with children” documentation;

Undergo periodic “national criminal history record” checks;

Report to management any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the course of your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The successful applicant will be subject to a “Working with Children Check and Criminal Records Check” where applicable. The School undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children and young people in its care. This includes reference checks, identity checks, qualification check and professional registration checks.
