The Opportunity

This Assistant Accountant is a significant opportunity to step into a broad and varied position within a growing company. Working closely with our supportive and highly knowledgeable Finance Manager and Financial Controller, you will gain hands-on experience across essential accounting areas. As our operational activities expand, so too will the scope and complexity you'll be exposed to. What You'll Do

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key support role in our finance operations, contributing to the accuracy and efficiency that underpins our success as an organisation. Your responsibilities will include:

• Actively assisting the Finance Manager with essential month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Preparing and performing accurate balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations for multiple entities and multi-currency accounts (with a focus on USD), critical due to our international material imports.
• Preparing and processing general journals.
• Contributing to core financial accounting tasks as required to support our growing operations.
• Assisting with the preparation of information for BAS, FBT, and Income Tax compliance.
• Providing support to the Accounts Payable function, including assisting with supplier queries and processing related to our manufacturing supply chain.
• Assisting with Accounts Receivable tasks, managing weekly billings (approx. 20-30 per week) and monitoring customer accounts for our predominantly blue-chip clientele.
• Identifying and suggesting improvements to existing accounting processes, particularly focused on enhancing efficiency and accuracy using tools like Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) to support our operational speed.
• Supporting audit requests by providing necessary documentation.
• Ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures as our business scales.
• Maintaining organized financial records to support robust reporting.

What You'll Bring

You are a detail-oriented and proactive individual with foundational accounting knowledge eager to grow your skills within a dynamic industry.

• You will have prior experience in an accounting support role, with some exposure to core accounting tasks, month-end, and reconciliations.
• You possess a good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and journal entries is necessary.
• You have a basic understanding of AP and AR functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, is essential as we refine our reporting tools.
• You have strong accuracy and attention to detail.
• You are developing problem-solving skills and are comfortable investigating discrepancies.
• You can work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
• Ideally, you are part-qualified in CA or CPA or actively pursuing a relevant accounting qualification, demonstrating your commitment to professional development.
• You might be a "first-time mover" from an Accounts Officer or similar role, ready to take on more responsibility and develop your career.
