About the Opportunity
The Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education is looking for 2 x Badanami Student Success Officers to empower and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their academic journey. As a Badanami Student Success Officer, you will play a pivotal role in enriching the educational journeys of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. You’ll deliver holistic support, mentoring, and pastoral care to ensure students feel empowered, engaged, and connected throughout their studies. Working closely with students, families, and University stakeholders, you will help enhance student success, boost retention and graduation rates, and shape an inclusive campus experience.
There are two full-time, ongoing positions available. One position will be located at Western’s Parramatta South Campus, and one position will be located at Western’s Kingswood (Penrith) Campus. Travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

Key Responsibilities
As a Badanami Student Success Officer, you will contribute to a broad range of initiatives that directly support student success, including:
- Delivering day-to-day mentoring, pastoral care, and culturally safe support services care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Fostering a vibrant, culturally rich student experience at Badanami Centres
- Partnering with Schools, Divisions, and University teams to strengthen student success strategies
- Supporting student progression planning, tracking outcomes, and driving initiatives to boost retention and graduation rates
- Providing strategic advice on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student education and support reporting requirements
- Continuously improve programs and ensure high-quality service delivery
Who we’re looking for
To succeed in this role, you will bring a passion for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, along with:
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field and significant experience in student support, program delivery, or higher education (experience in Indigenous education is highly valued)
- A proven record of providing culturally appropriate student support and proactively addressing student needs
- Strong relationship-building skills with students, families, and University stakeholders
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
- A commitment to continuous improvement and an eye for identifying opportunities to enhance student services
Working with Children Check: It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW Employee Working with Children Clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 $113,344 to $121,488 p.a. (comprising Salary of $95,777 to $102,659 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
