Location: Remote-based - Umuwa, APY Lands, SA
Salary: $93,622 - $102,672 + Super + Benefits
- Five weeks annual leave + 17.5% loading

About the Role & Organisation
Join a respected not-for-profit service supporting women and children across remote Central Australia. This organisation is guided by strong cultural leadership and has a long-standing commitment to trauma-informed, community-led support across NT, SA, and WA.
As the Specialist Children's Domestic & Family Violence Worker, you'll play a vital role in supporting up to 8 children and young people at a time who have been exposed to domestic and family violence. Based in Umuwa, you'll work closely with Anangu co-workers and community members to deliver therapeutic, strengths-based and culturally appropriate healing activities.
This is a newly created, fixed-term role until June 2027.
About the Service
The Domestic and Family Violence Service provides immediate and longer-term support for Anangu women and children impacted by violence. It incorporates crisis response, case management, advocacy, and community-based prevention and healing programs - all grounded in Anangu culture and values.
Key Responsibilities
Counselling & Support
- Manage a small caseload of children impacted by domestic violence
- Facilitate therapeutic, on-Country group and individual activities (minimum 18/year)
- Refer clients to clinical services as required and advocate within broader systems
Team Collaboration & Cultural Practice
- Work side-by-side with a female Anangu co-worker in a Malparara (two-way learning) model
- Collaborate with internal teams including Youth and Child & Family Wellbeing Services
Community Engagement & Capacity Building
- Strengthen organisational responses to children exposed to violence
- Model culturally safe practice and support training initiatives for broader teams
Skills & Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, early childhood, or community development
- Experience working with children and young people in groupwork or therapeutic settings
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice
- Capacity to work autonomously and adaptively in a remote, cross-cultural setting
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel by 4WD
