A leading organisation in the not-for-profit sector is seeking a dynamic and adaptable Risk & Resilience Advisor to join their enterprise risk team. This is a newly created role and a rare opportunity to build, shape, and own risk and resilience frameworks from the ground up in a purpose-driven, people-first environment.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, this position sits alongside WHS, Cyber, and Clinical Governance specialists, each owning their own program of work. The Risk & Resilience Specialist will be seen as the right hand to the Head of Risk - responsible for delivering on the enterprise risk and business continuity roadmap already set. This is not a role for someone looking to bring their own framework, but instead for someone ready to align with and execute a strategic vision while bringing energy and practicality to its delivery.
This role focuses on:
- Supporting the business in developing and maintaining enterprise risk registers
- Facilitating risk workshops and assessments
- Helping business units understand and manage their risks through coaching and collaboration
- Supporting and administering business continuity and crisis management plans
- Playing a key facilitation role in risk- not doing it for the business, but with them
What We're Looking For
This role requires someone who is:
- A hands-on operator who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting things done
- Personable, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent, able to engage a wide range of stakeholders across frontline services, Aboriginal engagement teams, clinical services, and senior leadership
- Comfortable with challenge, able to have the hard conversations when required to support sound decision-making
- Excited by building from scratch - this is not a maintenance role but a builder’s role
- Able to learn new systems and act as the admin for a new risk tool once implemented
- Collaborative, with strong facilitation and document writing skills
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and able to juggle multiple priorities with grace
This isn’t a traditional compliance-heavy role- it’s more about delivering on the strategy, embedding risk thinking into the organisation, and supporting others to own their risk.
Ideal Background
- 2–3 years of risk experience in an enterprise environment
- Experience with business continuity or crisis management (even as part of a broader role)
- Exposure to ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001 is useful
- Experience in human services, government, or community-focused organisations highly valued
Work Culture & Team
You’ll join a warm, genuine, and collaborative team that values curiosity, empathy, and adaptability. The Chief Risk Officer is an approachable, supportive leader who offers weekly one-on-ones, fortnightly team meetings, and coaching in challenging conversations or meetings. You’ll be supported to grow, stretch, and thrive.
If you’re someone who loves being in the thick of it, who sees risk as a decision-making tool rather than a compliance checkbox, and who thrives in a fast-moving, people-centred environment, then this is your chance to make a genuine impact.
