The Koori Family’s First Educator will work assisting Aboriginal parents and child/ren from conception to school age. The focus will be to empower parents to be the primary educators of their children in the home maximising the chances of successful kindergarten and early school experiences.
The Koori Family’s First Educator will work with vulnerable and disadvantaged families from conception to school age, producing positive health, development, learning, safety and wellbeing outcomes for children, parents and the wider Aboriginal community.
Koori Family’s First Educator will be supported by Senior Workers, Team Leader and a Lead Practitioner to work with the complexity of needs across the families which vary from minimal through to complex.
Program delivery will include; In Home Support/Home Based Learning programs.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Ability to apply knowledge and experience to develop and implement systems to plan and monitor own performance.
• Ability to solve problems based on operational knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions.
• Communicate and liaise with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal to achieve program objectives and goals.
• Ability to understand underlying needs and issues of stakeholders to effectively develop and implement solutions.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services.
Other Screening Requirements:
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
