RobLawMax Recruitment is working with a luxury hotel chain in search of a Director of Engineering with a passion for operational excellence, safety, and asset protection. We're seeking an Engineering & Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of facilities operations, from building systems to budget management, preventative maintenance, and compliance. About the Role:

As Director of Engineering, you will oversee all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the hotel’s building systems are operating efficiently, safely, and in line with regulatory standards. This includes leading preventive maintenance, energy management, compliance, budgeting, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage physical plant operations: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, and energy systems
• Lead long-term engineering strategies aligned with business and guest satisfaction goals
• Oversee departmental budgets, capital expenditures, and vendor contracts
• Deliver construction and maintenance projects on time and within budget
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards
• Maintain all essential certifications and licenses
• Drive emergency response protocols and crisis management planning
• Develop and monitor performance metrics, financial reports, and payroll
• Coach and develop a highly capable engineering team
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

What you bring:

• Proven experience managing engineering or facilities in a large-scale or complex setting (e.g. hotels, hospitals, commercial buildings)
• Expertise in HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, controls, fire protection, and energy management
• Solid track record in budget and CAPEX project management
• Deep understanding of compliance, WHS protocols, and risk mitigation
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage teams
• Ability to manage emergency situations with calm, clear direction
• Comfortable using digital tools for maintenance planning and operational reporting
