Location: Pemberton, Western Australia

The Warren Region is home to the well-known D’entrecasteaux and Walpole Nornalup national parks as well as the recently created Walpole Wilderness area and Walpole Nornalup Inlets Marine Park. Many other parks and reserves as well as significant areas of State forest make up the majority of the land that we manage. The landscape of the region include a diversity of coastal heath, tall karri forests to open jarrah and wandoo woodlands to the remnant Tingle forest. The region has an average annual rainfall range of 1,450 mm to 550 mm within which is embedded wetlands of international and national significance, pristine estuaries and wild rivers.

Our key service deliverables are nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, and fire management.

We currently have an opportunity for a Machine Plant Coordinator to join our team.

Under general direction, you will:

  • Coordinate the works programs, maintenance, and servicing of all district machine plant, and ensure the daily dispatch of machine plant and operators.
  • Lead, supervise, facilitate training and operate (to the limit of the licence held) heavy machinery such as a 960 Caterpillar Wheel Loader or equivalent, D7 Caterpillar bulldozer or equivalent, or Prime Mover and trailer suitable for transporting heavy machinery in forested environments and challenging terrain.
  • Undertake bushfire suppression work at all categories of bushfire (Level 1, 2 and 3) and is fire line competent.
  • Impart knowledge and experience and apply appropriate disease hygiene requirements at all times and particularly in environmentally sensitive areas.

Selection Criteria

  1. Considerable knowledge of and demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery, as outlined in this role statement, hold a C Class Drivers Licence and an HR Drivers Licence (or ability to obtain within 18 months) and have experience in dieback disease hygiene requirements and machine operations in environmentally sensitive areas.
  2. Evidence of ability to supervise and coach others in a range of work programs, identify training needs, conduct training as appropriate, and promote an environment of continuous learning.
  3. Sound knowledge and experience in undertaking projects and works programs, to ensure they are planned and implemented in an efficient manner, which includes an ability to determine and set priorities, organise resources and ensure best practice work practices and quality control measures are implemented.
  4. Evidence of ability to liaise with and negotiate successfully with other parties to ensure all approvals are in place and all issues are resolved before operational works commence.
