About the role

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Sewerage Networks Operations Engineer to join Icon Water. The Sewerage Networks Operations Engineer role is part of the Infrastructure Reliability & Performance Branch within the Infrastructure Services Group. The Branch is committed to driving operational excellence and sustainable outcomes through continuous asset health management and process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee process planning, operational monitoring, and control of assets of a large wastewater network. Candidates with comparable experience in a large drinking water

network will also be considered. Key duties include:

Configuration and service capability planning

Monitoring network performance and reporting on it

Developing operating strategies and guidelines

Network optimization

Emergency management planning

Providing input into the resolution of operational and maintenance problems

Our ideal candidate will possess:

Tertiary qualification as a professional engineer (Chemical, Process, Civil, Mechanical or Environmental) from a recognised university.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a large sewage collection system.

Experience in ventilation, odour or hydraulic modelling is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to manage safety in an industrial environment.

High level data analysis, synthesis, evaluation and visualisation. Competent in data validation and data management.
