Job Overview:
The Web and Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for managing and optimising the department's digital presence, focusing on advanced digital marketing strategies, technical web management, and multimedia content production. This role involves leveraging digital marketing tools, analytics, and emerging technologies to deliver measurable outcomes and ensure seamless, effective communication across the deaprtment's digital platforms. You will be instrumental in driving the digital strategy through continuous optimisation of websites, digital content, and multimedia assets to achieve organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Web & CMS Management and Optimisation
Lead the management, optimisation, and troubleshooting of the department's corporate websites and intranet to ensure functionality, performance, and user experience meet high standards.
Utilise advanced web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and CMS platforms to update, design, and optimise content for search engine visibility and user engagement.
Implement SEO best practices, conduct keyword research, and optimise website content to improve organic search rankings and traffic.
Ensure website accessibility standards are met and that all content is optimised for mobile and desktop platforms.
Monitor and analyse website performance using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
2. Multimedia Production & Content Creation
Design, develop, and produce high-quality multimedia assets, including videos, interactive graphics, animations, and visual content for the website and other digital platforms.
Use industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.) to edit, produce, and optimise multimedia content to align with the Council's brand guidelines and digital strategy.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure multimedia assets meet the needs of various campaigns, including both internal and external communications.
Manage the integration of multimedia content into web pages, ensuring seamless performance across all devices and platforms.
3. Advanced Digital Marketing Strategy and Execution
Develop and execute high-level digital marketing campaigns that align with the Council's objectives, focusing on web traffic generation, audience engagement, and conversion metrics.
Lead the implementation of data-driven marketing strategies, leveraging tools like Google Ads, email marketing automation, and digital retargeting to enhance outreach and engagement.
Utilise advanced analytics to assess the performance of digital marketing campaigns (e.g., website analytics, conversion rates, user engagement metrics) and provide actionable insights to improve future campaigns.
Coordinate the creation and management of digital assets for digital marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with SEO and content strategies.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for digital campaigns and content across all platforms, and provide regular reports on website traffic, user behaviour, conversion rates, and digital campaign ROI.
Use data analysis to continuously optimise digital marketing efforts, ensuring all strategies are data-driven and aligned with organisational goals.
Conduct A/B testing for web pages and digital content to identify opportunities for optimisation and improve overall user engagement.
5. Digital Strategy Development and Innovation
Contribute to the development of the Council's broader digital strategy, ensuring it reflects current trends in digital marketing, emerging technologies, and innovative multimedia approaches.
Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in digital marketing, web technologies, and multimedia production, integrating new tools and technologies to maintain the Council's competitive edge.
Provide expert advice and strategic input on the use of new media channels, tools, and digital marketing platforms to engage the target audience and achieve measurable outcomes.
6. Technical Support and Staff Training
Offer expert-level technical support for the management of digital platforms, ensuring efficient operation and troubleshooting of any issues related to websites, CMS, or multimedia content.
Develop and deliver training sessions for staff on best practices for managing digital content, using web tools, and integrating multimedia elements into communications.
Create comprehensive user guides, documentation, and troubleshooting resources to empower staff to manage and update digital content independently.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
Extensive experience in managing and optimising websites, including hands-on experience with CMS platforms, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Advanced knowledge of SEO techniques and their implementation to enhance digital content visibility and search rankings.
Proficiency in multimedia content creation and production using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro).
Strong understanding of digital marketing tools, including email marketing platforms, Google Ads, Google Analytics, and retargeting technologies.
Ability to develop and implement digital marketing strategies that drive web traffic, engagement, and conversions.
Excellent data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret digital analytics and use insights to optimise campaigns.
Familiarity with web accessibility standards and cross-device compatibility best practices.
Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
A degree in Digital Marketing, Web Development, Multimedia Design, or a related field.
Experience with digital marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo).
Knowledge of advanced analytics platforms (e.g., Google Tag Manager, SEMrush).
Experience with e-commerce platforms or digital sales funnels.
