ABOUT THE ROLE
The Ngalla Wirrin Wungening (NWW) Healing Worker supports NWW clients from a lived experience perspective. This lived experience offers clients the opportunity to have a partner in their journey through NWW. As a Healing Worker you will support clients and their supports to work through the healing journey with compassion and respect for each other’s knowledge and resources.
The Healing Worker is part of the Ngalla Wirrin Wungening Team, delivering alcohol and other drug healing practices.
The NWW Healing Worker works collaboratively within a dedicated team to deliver the entire ‘Healing Journey’. Specific components on the journey for this role, include:
Awareness – Provides internal and external stakeholders with up-to-date information about NWW.
Enquiry – Supports people seeking further information on NWW with warmth and curiosity.
Referral – Provides an empathic response to self/family/significant other-referrals.
Pre-entry – Communicates with potential clients from a LE perspective with information to support their choice to begin NWW.
Welcome – Offers a warm welcome as a person begins their healing through their ‘Welcome pack’.
Business Time – Supports all clients to navigate the Ngalla Wirrin Wungening Healing Journey, acting as a navigator and peer support to enable a compassionate and warm journey.
After-care – Offer people support as they move to maintain their healing in community, including, opportunities to support others with their journey.
The NWW Healing Worker is key to establishing and maintaining an ‘Authentic Connection’ with NWW clients.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Lived and/or living experience of challenges facing Aboriginal access to services, that may include: navigating racism, intergenerational trauma, exclusion, stigma, AOD challenges, etc.
Certificate IV and/or relevant experience in a community services environment.
Proven ability to achieve the responsibilities as outlined in this job description.
Commitment to providing a service consistent with Ngalla Wirrin Wungening guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge and respect for Aboriginal culture, protocols, and boundaries.
Experience and commitment to working collaboratively with clients and within a multi-disciplinary team.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
WA Working with Children Card
National Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)
WA Drivers Licence
