Job Summary:
The Biosecurity Operations Division delivers integrated national biosecurity and imported food regulatory activities to ensure goods, conveyances, and travellers meet Australia's import requirements. The division plays a vital role in protecting the nation from severe pests and diseases by enforcing compliance across the biosecurity continuum - offshore, at the border, and onshore.
As part of this division, the Client Contact Group (CCG) is the primary contact point for external clients. The team manages a wide range of enquiries and is responsible for booking inspections for imported goods. CCG operates nationally, offering flexible work arrangements after probation, training, and accreditation.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about public service, regulatory work, and client-focused engagement. Based in a fast-paced, office-based call centre environment, you'll join a collaborative team committed to safeguarding Australia's agriculture and environment.
Key Duties:
- Respond to client enquiries via phone and email, delivering accurate and timely information
- Process inspection booking requests using internal systems
- Manage workflow and resourcing for inspection activities
- Monitor and respond to team inboxes efficiently
- Liaise with clients and government agencies, providing complex advice where needed
- Support enquiry and compliance workflows by partnering with internal programs
- Assist team leaders in monitoring operations and service delivery
- Identify biosecurity risk trends and escalate as necessary
- Uphold standards of behaviour in line with APS Code of Conduct and organisational values
- Comply with WHS and Rehabilitation policies and report potential risks
