What will you be responsible for?
Are you a media savvy professional with a passion for storytelling and a knack for turning complex ideas into compelling, plain-English content? Local Land Services is on the hunt for a dynamic Senior Media Advisor to join our team and amplify the impactful work we do alongside the NSW Government. This is your chance to step into a role where you’ll develop and orchestrate media activities that spotlight our initiatives, craft engaging media materials including press releases and strategic pitches, and provide sharp, actionable advice on everything from high stakes issues to exciting opportunities. What will you need to do this role?
Overview of day-to-day:
- Plan and execute media activities and events that showcase the Department's impactful work
- Craft high-quality media releases, responses, strategies, and pitches, ensuring clear and concise messaging that resonates with target audiences
- Offer sound advice on media relations, events, and initiatives, supporting the Department's communication goals
- Proactively identify media opportunities and address contentious issues with a steady hand
- Monitor media channels to stay ahead of the curve and keep the Department informed about key trends and issues
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and efficient communication environment.
Note: After-hours, on-call, and weekend work may be required on occasion.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who has:
- A solid track record of delivering high-impact media campaigns and communication materials
- The ability to develop and execute effective communication plans tailored to specific audiences
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for responding to media enquiries, proactively spotting risks and opportunities, and keeping a finger on the pulse of media channels to stay ahead of the curve. You’ll build and nurture a network of relationships with internal teams, industry players, media reps, and even the Minister’s Office, ensuring collaboration is at the heart of everything you do. Expect to roll up your sleeves for media monitoring, reporting, and evaluating coverage, all while delivering insights that shape our approach.
You’ll juggle tight timeframes, provide thoughtful solutions in a high-volume setting, and tailor your work to meet the diverse needs of our stakeholders while managing shifting priorities. We’re looking for someone with extensive experience in journalism or media relations, a proven track record of delivering multi-channel communication projects, and the ability to engage with agricultural experts, ministerial advisors, and media pros alike.
