Are you a transport engineer wanting to make a genuine difference in planning the infrastructure future of our state? The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage are looking for our next Engineering Officers!

As the Engineering Officer you will assist in delivering road planning projects, reporting on transport matters related to urban planning and development applications, investigating and contributing to a range of transport planning and policy issues, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.

This is an open pool recruitment process for permanent full-time, and fixed term full-time opportunities. Suitable applicants will be placed in a Pool from which appointments may be made for similar vacancies for a period of 12 months.

Our Perth office is located in the Perth CBD in a convenient location, above the Perth Underground rail; close to the Wellington Street Bus Station and City CAT services.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate the following key requirements:

  • Skill, knowledge and experience in transport planning, traffic engineering, traffic modelling and/or road design.
  • Well-developed skills, knowledge and experience in critical thinking and/or problem-solving including a high level of conceptual and analytical ability.
  • Skill, knowledge and experience in technical report writing.
  • Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context of Personal Leadership as outlined below.

Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations are applicable to this role and should be demonstrated in the context of Personal Leadership. The Personal Leadership context is about the work of individuals not yet in traditional leadership positions who make a direct and immediate difference to the agency. The expected behaviours may be assessed during the recruitment and selection process.

This position also requires:

  • A current Western Australian ‘C-A’ Class (car) motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • A degree in Civil, Traffic or Transport Engineering or Urban/Regional Planning is essential.
