About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the finance team of the Shire of Pingelly as a Senior Finance Officer. This is a full-time permanent role based in Pingelly, Western Australia.
What you'll be doing
Effectively coordinate and supervise the finance and customer service team
Coordinate finance functions with the Shire's Accountant
Lead the Rates Management function
Regularly perform a range finance functions, including management reports, BAS, bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, journals
Assisting in the annual audit process
Providing high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and local government regulations
Supporting the Manager Community and Corporate Services with ad-hoc financial projects and analysis
What we're looking for
Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role in local government
Sound understanding and experience in rates processes as they are relevant to local government
Financial skills including experience in preparation of Council / Management reports, BAS, bank reconciliations, and a sound understanding of accounting principles
Highly developed customer service skills, underpinned by a community minded ethos
Strong supervision skills with the proven ability to delegate, motivate and lead by example
Highly developed numeracy, written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Experience in the operation of Local Government as a Department of Transport on-line licensing agency
Experience with SynergySoft software
What we offer
A total salary package will be negotiated dependent on qualifications, skills and experience as per the Shire of Pingelly Industrial Agreement 2023. The salary package includes a cash component of $76,765 to $87,256, 12% superannuation (from 1 July 2025), up to 5% matching superannuation and a fortnightly rostered day off.
