About the role

We are looking for a part-time Payroll Officer to join our team in our Cairns, Queensland office. As Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring all payroll processing and related activities are completed accurately and on time. This is a pivotal role within our accounting department, contributing to the overall financial health and employee satisfaction of our organisation. We are a hands-on, hard-working team that cares about quality, sustainability, and making a difference

What you'll be doing

Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including salary payments, deductions, leave entitlements and superannuation

Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll and employment legislation, including taxation and superannuation requirements

Maintain accurate employee records and payroll data

Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve any issues in a timely manner

Assist with the preparation of payroll reports and other financial documents as required

Collaborate with the broader accounting team to improve payroll processes and procedures

What we're looking for

Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a payroll officer or similar role

Excellent knowledge of payroll processing, including compliance with relevant legislation and regulations

Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy

Proficient in using payroll and accounting software

Effective communication skills to liaise with employees and other stakeholders

Organised and able to work to tight deadlines
