Lower Murray Water has a fantastic, opportunity for a motivated payroll professional who wants to develop a career in the water industry. The position will be located at our Mildura Head Office in Victoria’s northwest, an area known for its excellent climate, vibrant community and economy, whilst on the banks of the Murray River.
About the role:
As the Payroll Officer you will prepare and process LMW’s fortnightly payroll for over 200 employees. You will maintain employee payroll records and process/reconcile payroll statutory payments. You will provide a high level of customer service responding to employee and external stakeholder’s payroll enquires. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of employee payroll files and payroll information.
Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, this role will manage and monitor payroll data from weekly reporting to end of period/year reporting. You will work with department Managers and Team Leaders to ensure the timesheet data and payroll files are managed accurately within the payroll system.
This role will ensure good governance and integrity within payroll functions and work closely with the Finance team to ensure strong payroll controls and processes are imbedded within all payroll activities.

As a Payroll Officer for Lower Murray Water, you will provide the payroll functions to the Finance and Performance team by performing a broad range of duties including:
Prepare and process employee wage payments in accordance with LMW Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and Executive Contracts.
Maintenance of employee payroll records within LMW business systems.
Process and reconcile deductions and other statutory payments.
Provide a high level of customer service responding to employee and external stakeholder payroll enquires; and
Provide LMW management with payroll reporting
About you:
We are looking for applicants with substantial experience and detailed practical knowledge in payroll and strong financial experience and business acumen. We will require you to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity. Although no degree is necessary, further tertiary accreditation would be beneficial.
Experience within the water industry is not a pre-requisite of this position.

About Lower Murray Water
Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Authority was created under the provisions of the Water Act 1989 via Order in Council effective 1st of July 2004. It assumed the whole of the property, rights, liabilities, obligations, powers and functions under the Water Act 1989 of the Lower Murray Region Water Authority and Sunraysia Rural Water Authority. LMW reports to the Minister for Water, Environment & Climate Change Ms Lisa Neville.
The Water (Governance Act) 2006 varied the form and title of Lower Murray Water and established new governance arrangements effective from 1st July 2007. Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Authority is now Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Corporation.
On 19th August 2008 a Ministerial Determination under Section 87 of the Water Act 1989, appointed Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Corporation to take over the whole of the functions, powers and duties of First Mildura Irrigation Trust under the Act, including its functions in respect of all of its districts under the Act.
