Primary Purpose of the Role

• Provide planning, engineering, and/or site construction support for projects.
• Provide technical advice to support the successful delivery of projects.
• Mentor and share knowledge to build the technical capability of the Project Engineering & Support team.

Key Accountabilities

• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to assess principal, technological, and systemic requirements; conduct site surveys and consult with subject matter experts.
• Collaborate with Program/Project Managers and Planners on scoping, initial costing, and project planning.
• Assist in preparing Project Management Plans (PMP) and associated documentation (safety, environmental, IWP, ITP, and quality plans) to meet organisational standards.
• Support setup of project controls for cost and progress reporting.
• Coordinate risk management workshops and rail safety reviews.
• Review drawings and design documents for technical accuracy and suitability.
• Ensure safety in design and constructability assessments with project teams.
• Participate in tender evaluations, ensuring technical compliance and suitability.
• Monitor and report project progress on scope, schedule, quality, cost, earned value, and estimates.
• Coordinate project handover and obtain stakeholder acceptance of completed works.
• Manage defect closeout, including tracking and reporting rework.
• Establish procurement for project-specific items outside of Commercial team tenders.
• Execute site construction activities, ensuring safe practices and successful project delivery.
• Mentor and coach Project Engineers to enhance technical capabilities and team performance.

Education & Experience

• Engineering degree (Civil, Track, Electrical, Control Systems, Signalling) or equivalent experience.
• Extensive project delivery/engineering experience in rail.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Expertise in engineering support: specifications, design coordination, safety, constructability, commissioning, and quality.
• Skilled in project management support: estimating, scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and quality control.
• Experience applying Australian Engineering and Technical standards.
• Strong risk and safety management compliance.
• Proven mentoring and technical leadership experience.
