Position Overview:
As a Tax Accountant at our firm, you will oversee a diverse client portfolio, ensuring compliance with tax requirements while identifying opportunities to maximize tax efficiency. Your responsibilities will range from preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses to handling more specialized areas such as self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) reporting. This role demands a solid understanding of Australian tax legislation, keen analytical abilities, and a strong focus on cultivating and maintaining client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Company Tax Preparation:
Prepare and lodge company tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant Australian tax laws and regulations.
Review and analyze financial statements to identify potential tax savings and deductions for businesses.
Individual Tax Preparation:
Manage the preparation and lodgment of individual tax returns, ensuring clients maximize their tax benefits.
Provide personalized tax advice to individuals, including high-net-worth clients, regarding income, deductions, and credits.
SMSF Tax Services:
Handle the preparation and lodgment of tax returns for self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs), ensuring adherence to superannuation and tax regulations.
Advise clients on SMSF compliance and tax strategies to optimize their retirement savings.
Tax Planning and Advisory:
Develop and implement tax planning strategies to help clients minimize their tax liabilities and achieve their financial goals.
Provide proactive tax advice on matters such as capital gains tax (CGT), fringe benefits tax (FBT), and GST.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact for all tax-related matters.
Respond to client inquiries promptly and provide clear, concise advice.
Audit Support:
Assist with tax audits and liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as needed.
Ensure that clients are prepared and supported throughout the audit process.
Research and Compliance:
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and ensure compliance with all current laws and regulations.
Educate clients on changes that may impact their tax obligations or opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in taxation accounting, with a focus on company and individual tax preparation and SMSF tax services.
Comprehensive knowledge of Australian tax laws and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
