MGCCI is a not-for-profit community based organisation, a providing aged care and disability services, a neighbourhood centre, social prescribing through Ways to Wellness and employment and training programs through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program. We are a place and space for everyone, offering a diverse range of support and assistance to the local community. Our SQW programs provide accredited training opportunities and employment pathways to those who have experience barriers to training and finding employment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, independent and outcome driven SQW coordinator to join our team in the delivery of 2 x SQW programs that we offer in Mt Gravatt. The position is available for immediate start.
We are committed to providing holistic support and creating the perfect environment that addresses barriers to employment, supports successful training outcomes and helps participants make life changing choices that will support them into successful financial independence.
The SQW coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of two Skilling Queenslanders for Work Programs (SQW) including marketing and recruitment of participants, intake and assessment for eligibility, administration and case noting for the program, providing case management, employment placement and post placement support of participants once they have been placed into sustainable employment.
The position will require liaising with other community organisations and providers, including placement hosts, prospective employers and Registered Training Organisations.
You will be required to produce monthly reports for the Board of Management, and funding body and other reports as required.
You will be required to support, mentor and guide program participants to resolve any issues or barriers that they have to education, training, and employment throughout the duration of the program and post program support requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall coordination of the program including recruitment of eligible participants, marketing, and promotion.
Following and adhering to contract guidelines including meeting key performance indicators.
Proactively build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Building positive relationships with local businesses and employers.
· Understanding and empathy, regarding the needs and barriers experienced by participants.
Develop and maintain tailored employment pathway plans and assist participants to secure employment
Assisting with resumes, cover letters and job applications.
Develop and maintain relationship with Registered Training Organisation to ensure participants are engaging and progressing through the program and to manage any learning barriers
Support the RTO to facilitate any placement/work experience opportunities that will benefit the outcomes of the participant to complete their training and offer employment opportunities.
Represent MGCCI at key events, networks and meetings, committees, and public forums.
Produce monthly reports, progress/performance reports and annual reports as requested.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated industry experience in an SQW program or employment program, project coordination, and/or strong community and social welfare experience.
2. Demonstrated application of effective and appropriate communication skills at a high level, including written skills, cultural sensitivity, listening and interviewing.
3. Case management experience and exposure to working with clients with a variety of needs and from diverse backgrounds, specifically people who have barriers to training and employment and community participation.
4. Working knowledge of current employment trends, and issues impacting disadvantaged people and an understanding of the available resources for them.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently, be outcome focused, meet contractual obligations including key performance indicators.
