Are you a forward-thinking leader with a passion for spatial technology and innovation? We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Executive to lead our Spatial Technology team within DCS Spatial Services. This is your opportunity to shape the future of spatial data systems.

As Director Spatial Technology, you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving the strategic direction, design, and delivery of complex ICT services. You will ensure alignment with industry-leading practices, optimising outcomes to meet both operational and business needs. This role will oversee service assurance, performance, availability, and operational risk management for critical ICT platforms, providing expert advice on the effective, agile, and sustainable implementation of technology solutions. This role reports directly to the Surveyor-General & Executive Director Spatial Services and is a member of the executive leadership team.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a technology roadmap for Spatial Services, integrating emerging technologies to meet future geospatial and regulatory needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in ICT service delivery, optimising processes and ensuring alignment with government priorities.
  • Provide strategic leadership on cybersecurity, managing risks, ensuring compliance, and resolving incidents swiftly to maintain service quality and availability.
  • Lead agile digital delivery, empowering teams to produce deliverables that meet business, regulatory, and compliance needs.
  • Foster cross-government collaboration, managing stakeholder relationships and driving successful project implementation to meet government priorities

We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary leader with extensive experience in ICT strategy development, particularly in complex organisations. You will have a strong ability to leverage technology to achieve key business outcomes while managing enterprise applications and services. Your expertise in cybersecurity, ICT transformation projects, and service optimisation will be key to your success in this role.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in developing and delivering ICT strategy and transformation within a complex, large-scale organisation.
  • Strong background in managing and optimising ICT platforms.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity and risk management, particularly in ensuring compliance and incident management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through change, manage multiple priorities, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience with spatial systems (e.g. ESRI), AWS cloud, and tools such as JIRA will be highly valued.
  • A strategic mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, backed by solid leadership experience.
