About the Role:
As our Lead Engineer, you’ll lead the technical delivery of solar, battery storage, and EV charging solutions for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) projects from 100kW to >5MW.
You’ll foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, helping to mentor and grow our engineering capability while ensuring high standards across every project.
Key Responsibilities:
Innovate & Design – Lead the development, review, and optimisation of high-quality electrical designs for renewable energy projects.
Team Leadership – Lead, coach, and drive the performance of the engineering team. Set clear goals, manage team outputs, conduct performance reviews, and build a high-accountability, high-performance culture.
Technology Leadership – Drive the adoption of leading-edge tools, technologies, and methodologies to maintain Symmetry Solar’s position at the forefront of the renewable energy sector.
Engineering Governance – Establish and enforce engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices to ensure technical excellence, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Mentorship & Development – Actively mentor engineers, providing technical guidance, career development support, and building leadership capability within the team.
Resource Planning & Management – Plan, allocate, and optimise engineering resources to meet project demands, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
Technical Escalation Point – Serve as the senior technical authority, resolving complex engineering issues and providing strategic technical leadership across projects.
Continuous Improvement – Lead initiatives that drive innovation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement within the engineering function.
What You’ll Bring:
Electrical Engineering Degree (NER, RPEQ desirable).
SAA Accredited Designer (GCPV, GCBS Design)
5+ years’ experience designing and delivering solar, battery, and EV charging projects.
Expertise with AutoCAD, PVsyst, SketchUp (with Skelion), Orkestra, and PSCAD.
Deep understanding of Australian Standards and grid connection requirements.
Proven experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.
A passion for innovation, problem-solving, and developing future leaders.
