About the role:
Our School of Nursing & Midwifery within the Faculty of Health is recruiting for an Associate Lecturer in Midwifery to join the team. As an education focused role, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in the Discipline of Midwifery. Reporting to the Discipline Lead, Midwifery the position will be committed to student learning, coordination and unit delivery.
This role offers the opportunity to inspire and empower future midwives who are committed to women-centred, culturally safe, and evidence-based care. We are looking for someone passionate about supporting learners to uphold the values of respect, partnership, and advocacy that define the midwifery profession. This could also be a great segway for someone looking to pivot their career from midwifery to academia.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching, preparation and delivery of lectures, seminars, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and tutorials,
- Unit coordination as relevant with support of senior staff,
- Communication with students including pastoral care,
- Staff collaboration,
- Marking and assessment,
- Involvement in professional activities and service to the University.
About you:
- Current unconditional registration as a Midwife with AHPRA,
- Masters in Midwifery and demonstrated knowledge of higher education processes and structures,
- Collegial team member,
- Passionate about teaching midwifery,
- High level interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate and establish effective relationships with staff, students and industry stakeholders,
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in teaching,
- A strong understanding and commitment to women-centred care and the philosophy of midwifery practice.
