We are recruiting for a Clinical Nurse whose role is to assist the surgeon with clinical and administrative tasks to produce successful surgical and non-surgical outcomes for patients. About the Position
This is an extremely rewarding clinical and administrative full-time nursing position in a private specialist spinal practice. You will be working with a dedicated team of health professionals who sub-specialize in all conditions of the spine.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
support administrative staff in triaging new patients for appropriate appointments
provide support, direction, orientation and education to clinical and administrative team members
conduct history-taking prior and during patient consultations
undertake a comprehensive medical history and risk assessment prior to surgery
discuss perioperative information with patient on visit prior to surgery
undertake supervised ward rounds
contact post-operative patients to assess their progress once home
apply basic wound care (primarily dressing removal)
answer enquiries from patients, GPs and hospital staff (including after-hours enquiries)
book and manage theatre lists
liaise with affiliated medical specialists and allied healthcare professionals involved in patient's care
Qualifications and Experience
current AHPRA registration as a registered clinical nurse
minimum 2 years' experience in a surgical environment
Position Details
full-time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday
daily hours are variable depending on clinic days and workload
flexible roster designed in collaboration with surgeon
you are expected to be available electronically after-hours to respond to patient and health professional enquiries within set parameters (excluding annual and personal leave days)
negotiable starting remuneration including superannuation ($100,000-$115,000) based on qualifications and relevant experience; in accordance with the Federal Nurses Award 2020
uniform provided
located at the Brisbane Private Hospital
commences Monday 2nd June 2025 or sooner
Selection Criteria
high level of time management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills with attention to detail
ability to work independently and unsupervised to schedule but to be able to interact in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team-based environment
aspirations for a career in the surgical healthcare industry
competent with IT including Windows, Mac, Android and iOS environments, the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to become proficient in medical practice software
a high level of personal presentation standards
a compassionate and caring nature with a genuine interest in providing exceptional care to patients
strong communication skills, both written and verbal with a firm grasp of English grammar and syntax
