Cook/Chef – Remote Indigenous Boarding School (Kimberley Region, WA)
Join a Supportive Team Making a Real Difference
About the Opportunity:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Cook/Chef to join our team at a remote Indigenous boarding school in the stunning Kimberley region of Western Australia.
You’ll be part of a small, supportive kitchen team, preparing nutritious, buffet-style meals for students and staff. This is a rewarding role for someone who loves creating good food, enjoys a close-knit working environment, and is looking for a meaningful, community-focused position.
This is a full-time role working 5 days per week across a 7-day operation — meaning your roster will include weekends as needed. With up to 12 weeks of leave per year, and two return flights annually to any Australian capital city, this role offers the chance to experience remote Australia while maintaining a great work-life balance.
What’s on Offer:
$42–$44 per hour, based on experience
5 days per week, flexible across a 7-day operation (weekend work may be required)
Ensuite accommodation provided (modern, private facilities)
All meals included
Two return flights per year to any Australian capital city
Beautiful Kimberley location – a unique experience
Excellent kitchen facilities – modern, clean, and well-equipped
Up to 12 weeks of leave per year
Work alongside another chef/cook and a kitchen-hand
Ongoing support from a professional, caring team
Your Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and serve healthy, buffet-style meals for students and staff
Work collaboratively with a small kitchen team (another cook/chef and kitchen hand)
Manage kitchen operations including stock control, ordering, and food preparation
Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen at all times
Follow food safety and compliance standards
Build positive relationships with school staff and the broader community
Contribute to a supportive, welcoming environment for all students
What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience as a cook or chef, ideally in buffet or boarding school or station settings
Ability to work flexibly across a 7-day operation (with a 5-day workweek)
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
A team player with good communication skills
Ability to adapt to remote community life
Resilience, self-motivation, and a genuine passion for making a difference
Why Join Us?
Hospitality is about more than just meals — it’s about connection, care, and community. We are proud to support Indigenous communities through respectful, reliable, and meaningful service.
