The role
Firesafe is looking for a Design Engineering Teamlead to lead the Design Engineering Team in all aspects of the technical design function, providing support and coverage when required to the Design Manager on a full time basis. The role will be based in the Bibra Lake Headoffice.
Some of Required Duties / Responsibilities are below but not limited to:
· Produce hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, pipe supports, drawings and fabrication sheets in line with the appropriate standards, scope of work and constructability to a very high standard, and review the work of junior design-team members to promote ongoing improvement
· Provide training to other staff members in line with your expertise
· Provide technical assistance and problem-solving ideas to designers and PM’s and other operational staff as required
· Ensure all completed designs are checked for accuracy prior to issuing
· Assist Design Manager to find solutions to complex technical issues
· Accept and complete training opportunities when offered
· Provide coverage for Design Manager during absences (Design Manager RAS will then apply)
· Take all necessary actions to build long term positive relationships with the company’s employees, contractors and client personnel
· Be available to discuss with Procurement Manager, PM’s, Leading hands and other stakeholders as required regarding design aspects of his/her project
· Ensure your own safety and health at work and that of your work mates
· Comply with all lawful and reasonable instructions given by your employer
Skills and Experience
You will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or at least 5 years of recent experience successfully designing fire sprinkler systems
You’ll be able to demonstrate your experience delivering designs with a high degree of constructability
Knowledge of the AU codes and REVIT experience is essential
Experience with other design software packages will be advantageous
Highly motivated and able to meet strict client deadlines
Eligibility to work and reside in Perth, Western Australia
