My client designs, manufactures and distributes precious metal products and related services. We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to support the manufacturing team by providing analytical testing services of all raw material and metals.

The role
Carry out routine analysis as required whilst upholding and abiding to the quality standards set by the ABC
Board, including laboratory testing on all incoming assays to test for fine metal purity.
Ensure all records, as specified by the Lab Quality Manual, are accurate, up to date and documented
appropriately.
Continuous compliance with all Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the ABC Laboratory. This
includes ensuring that samples are received by the laboratory from Production on a daily basis.
Participate in general sample preparation, testing and quality control.
Participate in the preparation of samples for Fire Assay, XRF and ICP-OES analysis.
Participate in monthly physical stock takes, including recording any unusual observations on samples.
Report these discrepancies to the Head of Laboratory.
Report assay, refinery processes and refinery performance results to the Commercial Department in a
timely manner.
Contribute to the development of innovative programs, including initiating the purchase of laboratory
consumables.
Maintain a clean and efficient laboratory environment.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned to you by management.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science / Chemical Engineering
An understanding of chemical Science principles and basic mathematics
Experience in inorganic chemistry, precious metals assaying and fire assay laboratory testing technique
Excellent written communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving ability
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
A careful and methodological approach with good attention to detail
